Manchester Hospital School is a school like no other. So it should come as no surprise that we are looking for someone equally special to take on this key leadership role.
Committed to the principles of ethical leadership, our team ensures that any child who is unable to attend their own school due to ill health can continue to make progress in their education and to experience success. What we do makes a real difference to the lives of children and families during a period where they need it the most.
Children of all ages and abilities attend the school and we operate across a number of sites including Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH), Galaxy House School, Leo Kelly School and the Christie NHS Foundation Trust. We also teach pupils in the home and community settings. And as an expert in our field, we offer practical advice and guidance to other schools on how they can best support their pupils if health issues are creating barriers to their education.
The unique settings in which we work mean that it’s essential that our leadership team are highly responsive, versatile and adaptable, and always operate with pupils’ best interests at the centre of decision-making. As Headteacher, you’ll model this approach, adopting a practical, down-to-earth and optimistic style that ensures clarity of purpose and expectations at all times. You’ll be a committed and engaging ambassador for our work, able to build professional networks across Manchester and beyond, building on our reputation as a leading voice in the hospital education sector.
We expect that you will already be a very successful school leader with a reputation for high quality education across your school(s) and beyond.
We follow the values in the ethical leadership framework at Manchester Hospital School and our school is committed to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter.
Manchester Hospital School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, younger learners and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. We follow safer recruitment procedures and all posts will be subject to enhanced DBS checks, satisfactory references and will be exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
These posts are also subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and other pre-employment checks where applicable.
We are an Equal Opportunities Employer and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
